Questions and Answers

Q:        I am an Marist old boy from  Fiji and would like to be part of your association. How do I go about being a member?

A:         We welcome all interested old boys. Please contact any one of the committee members on our Contact page. All our fundraising efforts are on a voluntary basis and we value the input of all members. We meet on a fortnightly basis at homes of committee members throughout Sydney.

Q:        I would like to attend MOBilise 2008 in July 2008 but do not reside in Sydney. Can you recommend suitable accommodation in Sydney?

A:         Yes, we are able to recommend reasonably priced accommodation in an area close to all the planned activities. Please email your request to any of our members and we will gladly assist. If there is no vacancy at the hotel/motels in the area, we will arrange billeting with committee members as a last resort.

Q:        Is the MOBilise 2008 Conference restricted to old boys of a certain era?

A:        This conference is open to all ex-Marist scholars of ALL eras and includes teachers as well. Interstate and overseas visitors are most welcome to attend.

Q:        Can you tell us more about your organisation?

A:         We are an organisation committed to bringing about much needed change to MBHS by working in conjunction with the school management and the MBHS Board. Our committee comprises of ex-MBHS boys from the 71 to 80 era, residing in Australia. Most of us were average students at school, coming from difficult backgrounds and struggled throughout  high school. But through sheer hard work and dedication we excelled in the various fields of endeavour we chose. Collectively we represent a wealth of experience and business acumen, from Company Directors, Certified Practicing Accountant, General Manager for Optus Telecommunications, A Squadron Leader in the RAAF, IT Manager for multinational company, etc. Some of us are involved in local charities and community service work.

Q:        I am not an ex-Marist scholar but would like to be part of your fund-raising efforts.

A:         No problems, we gladly encourage participation from all interested parties. As our name suggests, we include “friends” as being an essential part of our organisation. There are many friends of MOB who are actively involved in our social events, in the selling of function tickets and the preparation of food. We value and appreciate their input.
